Happy Friday!

This week has certainly been an interesting one for me. School was pretty intense… I had a bunch of projects and papers to do this week along with several presentations. I’ve really been trying to slow down and enjoy my last week in college, but boy, am I ready to be done! On the other hand, the stress of this week has definitely driven me closer to God and sparked new energy in my prayer life. It’s truly amazing how much comfort and peace a few minutes of prayer can bring (Philippians 4:6-7).

This week, I would love prayers for:

1. Finals week. I’ll be completely done with college this upcoming Thursday, but I still have a lot to get done before then. I could really use prayer to keep my motivation and manage my time well.

2. The South African countries we’ll be visiting: Eswatini, South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. I want to be as prepared as possible for when I go out in the field and that starts with prayer. Join me as I pray for these countries and their specific needs.

3. Faith for my friends and family. I know for certain that this trip will change me and grow my faith in incredible ways. Recently, however, I’ve been hoping that this trip will also transform the faith of all those I know. I hope to be a light not only in the foreign countries I’ll be visiting, but also right here at home.

Thanks for praying with me!

  1. Increased my faith it as has indeed! So proud of you Janine! While my selfish side doesn’t want you to leave for 11 months (sad face). I am beyond excited for you and all the great things you’re going to do! Love ya!

  2. In Eswatini, they speak Swazi and some English. In South Africa, there are several different languages spoken, but the main one is Afrikaans. They also speak a bunch of different languages in Zimbabwe such as Shona and Chewa. In Lesotho, they speak Sotho and in Zambia the official language is English.

  3. I actually won’t be going to Europe at all. My route goes through South America, the east coast of Africa, and South Asia.

  4. Oh man, you have no idea how glad I am to hear that! I’m going to miss you so much, but I’m sure you’ll have great adventures here too with all your nursing stuff!

  5. Remember we have onedoor media that is in English, and can be transdlated into any of those languages. Your mission coordinator should have a list of contacts who can do translation, keeping at least one country ahead of you. Don’t overlook the play team-written in Nigeria with local writers, Impact Africa.

  6. Thank you! I’ll definitely keep that in mind! I’ve been keeping my eyes open for any resources that could help with translation or adjusting to the different cultures.

  7. Thank you for sharing the prayer requests. I love how the WR is structured with focus on intimacy with God, community with one another, and ministry to help others. We all win and are transformed in major ways in the process!
